How Digital Credentials Work

1. Guest buys an admission ticket or pass and selects digital delivery

What is a digital credential?

A digital credential is an admission ticket, annual pass or access entitlement stored on a smartphone or smartwatch. It can be delivered through a native mobile wallet or branded park app and validated at the attraction entrance.

Do guests need to download an app?

Not when tickets are delivered through Apple Wallet, Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet. Guests can add the ticket or pass to the wallet already available on their device. A branded park app is an additional option for operators that want extended ticket-management functions.

Which mobile wallets are supported?

SKIDATA NFC eTicketing supports Apple Wallet, Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet. Support depends on the device, operating system and selected ticketing setup.

Can guests use a smartwatch?

Yes. Digital credentials can be used on smartphones and smartwatches that support the selected mobile wallet and NFC functionality.

Can the solution support annual passes and day tickets?

Yes. Digital credentials can be used for individual visits and recurring admission products such as annual passes.

How does SKIDATA connect with an existing ticketing system?

The ticketing system requests an NFC token from the SKIDATA eTicketing service. The guest then receives the digital ticket and stores it in the selected wallet or app before presenting it at the attraction entrance.

How are digital credentials validated?

The guest presents the smartphone or smartwatch at a compatible SKIDATA reader. The access system checks the credential and its access rights before allowing entry.

Can digital tickets be transferred?

The branded park app and NFC pass-transfer functions can support controlled ticket transfers. The exact process and available controls depend on the selected setup.

Can existing QR-code or RFID tickets be converted?

The conversion process allows supported QR-code and RFID tickets to be converted into NFC wallet credentials through a web application.

Can ticket information be updated after delivery?

Ticket and visit information can be kept current depending on the selected wallet, application and ticketing integration. This can include information such as admission details, entrance information or event data.
