Parking Payment, Built for Leaner Setups

Parking Payment, Built for Leaner Setups

How skiosk® Lean brings cashless, cloud-connected payment to compact parking setups.

Picture a small city-centre car park early in the morning. Steady commuter traffic, almost every driver paying by card or phone, and one practical question for whoever runs it: what kind of payment point does this exit actually need?

For many sites, the answer is a full-featured device with ticket vending, cash and intercom. That is exactly what those sites need.

For others, it's something far simpler: a compact point that handles payment cleanly and fits where space is tight.

skiosk® Lean is built for the second kind.

skiosk® Lean: a focused payment point

SKIDATA developed skiosk® Lean as a compact payment point for the most common parking journeys. The journey stays deliberately short: identify, pay, leave.

By default, drivers identify by entering their license plate, with no ticket needed. In LPR setups, that plate links the payment to the right vehicle. Where a site prefers tickets, skiosk® Lean scans them on request. Either way, drivers pay cashless by card or contactless and take a digital receipt; sites that still print receipts can add a printer.

In smaller facilities, that's all it takes: an LPR camera reads the vehicle, skiosk® Lean handles payment on site. A reliable self-service point, without the larger setup a small site was never going to use.

Built to fit where space is tight

One practical advantage stands out right away: skiosk® Lean doesn't need its own floor space. Mount it on a wall, and payment sits exactly where drivers need it, with no pedestal and no extra footprint. Prefer a free-standing unit? That works too, indoors or out.

This is where Lean takes on its own role in the skiosk® family. It's the compact, entry-level member, and the only one you can simply hang on a wall. For a campus lot, a small shopping centre or a space wedged between two buildings, that flexibility is often the whole reason it fits.

Less cash, less daily effort

Going cashless takes real work out of daily operation. A device that handles cash needs extra components, regular collection and its own service routine. Every one of those is something a team has to maintain.

skiosk® Lean is cashless by design. It runs on card and contactless payment, the way drivers in most markets already pay. Nothing new for the driver to learn, and one whole category of work (collection, jams, reconciliation) simply doesn't exist.

Connected through the cloud

A modern parking payment point doesn't stop at the device. skiosk® Lean runs on cloud-based software, so the management work moves off the site and into one place you can reach from anywhere.

Teams set it up and manage it in SKIDATA Portal, keep an eye on it through Control, pull performance data from Central Reporting and roll out software updates through Digital Software Delivery (DSD). Because the software runs in the cloud, the device connects over a secure internet connection rather than a wired LAN link to the local server. That cuts the local integration work, and updates arrive without a service visit.

For operators, that means less running around. A device in the far corner of a car park is managed exactly like one outside the front office. It all sits inside SKIDATA Connect, the wider ecosystem that links SKIDATA's digital services, so a single skiosk® Lean unit today can grow into a fuller connected setup tomorrow.

The right device for the right place

Different sites need different solutions. Where a site needs ticket vending, cash payment, advanced intercom or advertising options, skiosk® Lite and skiosk® Smart deliver that depth, and on those sites that depth is exactly what creates value. Where a site needs a compact, entry-level point that covers the core journey, skiosk® Lean is the focused option.

That is what a portfolio is for: the right device for the right place. skiosk® Lean doesn't replace the fuller skiosk® devices. It extends the range to smaller, budget-conscious and space-limited sites, and to larger operations that want a lean, cashless point alongside their existing mix.

Leaner hardware. Smarter site planning. Connected operations. That's skiosk® Lean: the right-sized payment point for how a growing number of sites work today, alongside the full skiosk® portfolio everywhere else.
