Salzburg, March 6, 2018. SKIDATA recently posted record performance in 2017. With sales of €320 million, the Salzburg access expert exceeded the previous year's result as it has done for the fifth consecutive year.
SKIDATA finished its anniversary year with a new sales record. In 2017, SKIDATA AG generated consolidated annual income (in accordance with IFRS) of €320 million. "This record earnings result is not just a new all-time high, but also marks the company's 40th anniversary, which was celebrated last year," says Hugo Rohner, CEO of SKIDATA AG.
The track record of continuing success over the last several years has been a result of organic growth, strongly driven by operations in the USA, as well as Italy, France and Switzerland in Europe. Overall, SKIDATA recorded an export share of 85%, as in the previous year. SKIDATA AG also expanded its international presence with the integration of Advanced Parking Solutions Ltd., a long-standing distribution partner from Ireland, becoming a new subsidiary. At the end of 2017, SKIDATA consisted of 26 country organizations, 5 joint ventures and a total of 1,450 employees. The worldwide distribution network also includes around 50 distribution partners.
2017 also saw the continuous further development of the SKIDATA product range as well as its expansion to include attractive, digital solutions. Summit.Logic - which celebrated its premiere last year - is a perfect example. The SKIDATA Management Software makes it possible to centrally operate, monitor and manage every lift and access point in the ski area. "Our commitment is to optimally exploit the opportunities provided by new digital technologies in order to develop sustainable and innovative business models for and with our customers," says H. Rohner. "Through innovative strength, the company has progressed from a regional hardware manufacturer in the 1970s, to become an internationally successful digital solution provider and the world market leader in the area of access and visitor management."
Customers in more than 100 countries rely on solutions from the SKIDATA portfolio for the access of both people and vehicles. More than 10,000 installations in ski resorts, stadiums, shopping malls, cities, spas, amusement parks, airports and trade shows display the SKIDATA logo. Nearly 800 new installations were added in 2017.
Broadening of the global scope of action
SKIDATA is already setting the course for its continued growth. Significant preparation for entry into the Chinese market was completed in the latest financial year, and early in 2018 SKIDATA acquired a controlling interest in Cytel Ltd., China's leading provider of access systems. With subsidiaries in Australia, Japan and Malaysia, as well as partnerships in India, Hong Kong and New Zealand, SKIDATA has already established a solid foundation in the region over the past few years. "Internationally, SKIDATA has put itself into a very strong position in recent years. We are going to where the customer needs us and where an appropriate commissioning and project landscape is available. With the acquisition in China, SKIDATA continues to develop in a highly interesting economic region."
