Grödig, March 6, 2015 Safe and stress-free entry into the gondola, without pushing and shoving. The wish of many passengers is now reality. In the ski resort Gasteinertal (Gastein Valley), SKIDATA together with Doppelmayr is testing successfully an innovative entry portal for gondolas. Its name: EasyBoarding.Gate. The "Made in Austria" technology will soon not only be conquering the mountains and ski areas but also the megacities worldwide.

Whether on one of the snowy mountain peaks or over the skyline of a million-inhabitant metropolis: The entrance into the gondolas of the world is now becoming more comfortable and safer. SKIDATA, a leading international provider of access management solutions headquartered in Grödig near Salzburg, has developed in cooperation with Doppelmayr a unique entry portal. The fully automated system called EasyBoarding.Gate is currently being tested at the gondola at Stubnerkogelbahn in the Salzburg ski region of Gasteinertal.

Franz Schafflinger, Chairman of the Gastein cable cars company, makes an initial assessment: "Just in time for the start of the ski season we began trial operations at the Stubnerkogelbahn cable car. Our ski guests accepted the new system right from the beginning and especially enjoyed the much simpler and more comfortable entry. We from Gastein cable cars are also very pleased with the new access solution. As a result of the controlled entry, we can utilize the gondola in a more optimal way to get our guests as quickly as possible on the slopes. "

Intelligent Technology
While there may be crowding and pushing with other cable cars, passengers using EasyBoarding.Gate enter the gondolas in an organized and stress-free way. The new access control solution regulates, in coordination with the software of the gondola, the flow of visitors automatically. It communicates with passengers by means of signal lights and easy to understand status displays. It allows only as many passengers to enter the respective entry portal until the correct group size is reached and assigns them to the gondolas.

In this way, EasyBoarding.Gate enables all, especially children, a safe and easy entry into the gondola. In addition, the system makes it clearly recognizable for groups to know into which access portal they should go so that the group can ride together. Especially for families, this makes it possible to plan in advance for a shared ride. To ensure maximum reliability, the EasyBoarding.Gate adapts itself to the driving speed of the gondola.

"We wanted a solution that provides greater safety, comfort and efficiency in the operation of gondolas. The EasyBoarding.Gate offers all of these advantages and can be easily integrated into existing as well as new lifts" summarizes Hugo Rohner, CEO of SKIDATA, about the new access system.

Worldwide Potential
In addition to the safety aspect, EasyBoarding.Gate increases the profitability of the gondola operations through the optimal use of the available load capacity. Thanks to the intelligent visitor management and controlled processes in the entry area of the gondolas, operation is able to run at the highest efficiency.

This makes EasyBoarding.Gate an attractive technology for ski lift operators. The potential of this "Made in Austria" innovation is correspondingly large - both in the ski and mountain regions as well as in the urban cable cars in the world. After the pilot project in Bad Gastein, EasyBoarding.Gate will be quickly made ready for production. Then, the entry into the gondola will certainly be quite easy.
