Project Overview
Student and Staff ID Card integration
Multi-site networking, reporting and control
E-ticket functionality for reserved parking
Since the introduction of paid parking in 2004, SKIDATA has enabled secure parking at all four campuses utilizing Wide Area Network (WAN) to facilitate both centralized and localized monitoring and control.
Ulster University provides a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate for nearly 27,000 students. SKIDATA has partnered with Ulster University to deliver convenient parking to students and staff alike.

In 2015, Ulster University issued a European-wide tender to procure a parking system that could offer a continuation of high performance and reliability as well as to take advantage of new technologies in internet connectivity, chip and pin, and online payments. After undergoing a rigorous technical tender process, SKIDATA once again was selected as the successful solution provider.
Given the mix of part-and full-time courses available across all campuses, requirements for flexible parking products are paramount for the car parking management.
The SKIDATA parking management system which is centrally controlled, enables the programming of staff and student cards to suit a variety of passes of various validity duration and access rights. By using the student and staff ID card as the parking access card, Ulster University can save on costs and minimizes the use of plastic products.
Various departments across all campuses can issue validations to certain visitor types and all validations are then recorded and if required invoiced to those departments.
The SKIDATA solutions were installed to control a wide variety of mobility requirements including public transport, car-pooling, disabled drivers, university security and service vehicles using short-term ticketing, staff and student university cards, radio transmitters and IP intercom solutions.
In 2016, with the introduction of the SKIDATA cloud-based e-ticketing solution, VIP’s can also be sent an e-ticket to their phone for access to reserved restricted areas.
In this case visitors apply online for a reserved space and in return they are sent a QR Code to their phone which they can use at the restricted access car parks.

"Having worked with SKIDATA for nearly 20 years they have proved to be professional, supportive, reliable and a cost-effective solution to our parking and maintenance requirements’
