Team spirit for a good cause

The Charity Challenge kicks off on June 15. This year, the SKIDATA team will compete against Quehenberger Logistics, and together, we run for the Herzkinder Österreich.

We take it to the next level—and this year is no exception. From June 15 to September 15, we are walking, wandering, jogging, and strolling with seven other companies from Salzburg as part of the Charity Challenge supported by the Salzburger Businesslauf. It’s a competition for a good cause, with all proceeds from our rivalry going to Herzkinder Österreich.

We run and help

Active and socially-engaged employers across Salzburg are challenging their teams to run as many kilometers as possible to raise money for a good cause as part of the Charity Challenge, and SKIDATA is back in the race, of course. Other participants include Commend International, COPA-DATA, Digital Elektronik, Findologic, nic.at, Movea, Quehenberger Logistics and Salzburg Research. As always, two employers will go head-to-head in competition with each and last year, SKIDATA challenged our long-standing business partners at Digital Elektronic to a duel. This year, we’re up against Quehenberger Logistics. The company whose colleagues cover the most kilometers on average will win, which means that the size of each company won’t be a competitive advantage.

Running isn’t a requirement: Hiking, jogging, trail running, and Nordic walking are allowed as well—what counts is the kilometers! Team spirit, however, is a must: For every kilometer an employee travels and logs in the free portal, each of the companies involved will donate 0.20€. The “Gegeneinander für ein Miteinander” Charity Challenge runs from June 15 to September 15 and, as is tradition, the Salzburger Businesslauf 2020 grand finale will take place once again this year.

Last year, 251 runners representing six participating employers logged an incredible 44,419 kilometers as part of the Charity Challenge and donated a (generously rounded-up) sum of 15,7000 Euro to the Herzkinder Österreich.

Making a move together for the Herzkinder Österreich

For many parents, hearing “Your child has a heart condition” can be frightening, but at Herzkinder Österreich, parents can find support, advice and assistance as well as exchange experiences with other parents and families who are dealing with the same diagnosis. Behind the initiative is Wolfgang Zimmel, IT Specialist at Commend International. He started the WerdePate.com charity project in 2015 to support Salzburger Kinderkrebshilfe. The idea of running for a good cause was picked up by Commend International in 2017, and SKIDATA has been taking part since 2018. The slogan “Gegeneinander für ein Miteinander” was born, and since then, even more companies have replied: Challenge accepted.
