With the opening of Terminal 3 on April 23, 2026, Frankfurt Airport significantly expanded its capacity. The terminal is initially designed to handle up to 19 million passengers annually, with the ability to scale to 25 million in its final stage. The associated parking facility is one of the largest in Europe, offering a total of 8,500 parking spaces across eight levels.
Flexible payment options complement the system. Drivers can pay at pay stations, directly at exit terminals, or via smartphone. SKIDATA’s technology integrates directly with existing Fraport systems, ensuring efficient and secure processing of all operationally relevant data.
A key strength of the SKIDATA solution is its scalability. The system is designed to grow with the terminal’s requirements—without changes to the underlying IT infrastructure.
Additional services such as EV charging, premium parking areas, or fleet solutions can be integrated flexibly into the central software platform. This allows the airport to expand its offering without adding operational complexity.
“At Terminal 3, we offer a wide range of parking products and services. With a user-friendly and high-performance system, we contribute to a positive travel experience for our passengers,”
Gerald Krebs, Head of Parking and Mobility, Fraport AG.
The implemented solution combines high system performance with ease of use. By intelligently linking license plate recognition with digital services, SKIDATA has created a future-proof platform capable of efficiently managing the complex requirements of a major international airport.
As passenger volumes grow and mobility demands evolve, the system provides the flexibility and reliability needed to support long-term operations—without compromising on user experience.
