Franz Holzer, Managing Director of SKIDATA, fills us in on future trends in ski tourism
Book services on your ski vacation as quickly and easily as possible: more and more tickets are being purchased online. SKIDATA provides the most modern technology for use in ski resorts. Franz Holzer, SKIDATA’s Managing Director for Austria & Eastern Europe, summarizes current developments: “Technology connects us with ski resorts online. Common ideas from SKIDATA and our customers are incorporated into our innovations for the future.” Thanks to our company-wide excitement for innovation, SKIDATA awes with new creative solutions that set trends.
SKIDATA trends in the area of skiing
One important trend that we are already focusing on is the linking of various services. “Everything from a single source” is the motto here. In the future, vacationers should be able to not only purchase ski tickets, but also to book ski lessons and rental equipment. When it comes to apps, SKIDATA together with swebtix offers a link between ticketing and numerous features such as the display of altitude covered. Additional apps are already being planned. For ski resort operators, monitoring access terminals is becoming ever more mobile – web-based applications allow greater flexibility in access management.
The development of systems for extreme climate conditions has long been one of our strengths. Our installations can be found on both sides of the equator, from the Perisher ski resort in Australia to the Levi ski resort in Finland.
Another challenge for the future is the trend towards larger ski pools, in other words the union of ski resorts, such as the Ski Amadé or Salzburger Superskicard. In Austria alone nearly all of the approximately 250 ski resorts are already organized into such ski pools. Here it is about designing solutions that offer skiers the greatest possible convenience without compromising safety or controlled access.
SKIDATA is a reliable partner for destinations around the world
As an Austrian company, our company is well-established in the local ski scene and hosts data from 80% of Austrian SKIDATA customers. But more and more international skiing destinations are also being equipped with professional access solutions by SKIDATA. For example, we currently provide equipment to 15 ski resorts in Turkey, such as Kayseri Erciyes AS in Cappadocia.
It’s not only in person at ski resorts, but also from the office, that our team supports our customers on every continent. Application technicians can remotely access customers’ devices, thereby quickly and efficiently assisting with adjustments and the optimization of SKIDATA applications. If you’d like to strengthen this team, you can learn more about the job vacancy as Engineer Application Services on our website.
Help shape the future of ski tourism – as part of our SKIDATA team
We offer software developers, hardware developers and IT technicians the chance to actively shape the future and develop innovations. Managing Director Franz Holzer explains what distinguishes his team: “For me it is especially important that my employees work independently, happily take over responsibility and, above all, deal with customers in a knowledgeable and committed way. Customers should see us as a partner they can completely and totally rely on.”
