SKIDATA Selected as Exclusive Parking Management Supplier for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Groedig/Salzburg (Austria) & Barendrecht (Netherlands) – June 18, 2009 – Parking at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport is set for a boost in convenience, as Amsterdam Airport Schi-phol decided to upgrade to the latest SKIDATA parking management solution for the airport’s 40,000 parking spaces. SKIDATA came out as the best supplier in the European tender.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, a satisfied customer of SKIDATA since 1993, last year decided to replace its existing parking equipment and bring passenger parking throughout the entire airport up to the next level. “We wanted to set new standards in airport parking convenience,” says Roel Huinink, Senior Manager Parking & Mobility Services, Amsterdam Airport Schip-hol. The reason to go with SKIDATA as exclusive supplier, he says, was that “the SKIDATA solution stood out as the one to meet all our needs in terms of user convenience, innovation and investment protection.”
The large-scale project will go ahead in several stages over the coming years, based on a ten-year frame agreement between the airport parking operator and SKIDATA. The contract covers all parking facilities at Schiphol, including the P1 and P2 short-stay car parks, the P3 long-stay area, as well as the staff parking sections.
The operator’s ground-breaking customer service concept calls for separate parking areas for individual target groups. As Roel Huinink explains, “Among others, there will be sections for ‘Valet Parking’ with a car fetching service; one called ‘Excellence Parking’ which will offer VIP-style premium services, and a ‘Smart Parking’ section for which spaces can be booked over the Internet at low early-booking rates.”
As Willem-Jan Balk, Managing Director of SKIDATA Netherlands & Belgium, adds, this di-versity in requirements is precisely where the SKIDATA solution can play out its strengths. “It’s extremely flexible when it comes to things like sectioning, tariff management and sup-porting various business models and revenue streams.” What comes as another big advan-tage is that the SKIDATA solution is designed to integrate with other systems for CRM and marketing purposes.
“This is the largest single-project contract for SKIDATA in the Netherlands to date,” says Balk. “We are very happy to be able to support Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in their admira-ble efforts to lead the way in airport parking convenience.”
